COPS FACES HEAT FOR SLAPPING PHOTOGRAPHER READ MORE Slapping|photographer|Elephant|Delhi police constable NEW DELHI: A Delhi Police constable has been suspended for slapping a man employed with a newspaper who was photographing an elephant near Rajghat. The incident was captured by the crew of a TV channel waiting nearby. The photographer, Manas, claimed he was passing by Rajghat on Friday afternoon when he saw an elephant behaving erratically and its mahout trying to bring it under control. A group of policemen were also waiting at the spot. "A constable asked me to leave when I began taking pictures. I told him I was a mediaperson but he refused to let me stay," he said. "Another photographer was waiting for me across the road. When the constable pushed me, the photographer rushed towards me. On seeing this, the constable grabbed me by the collar and slapped me," Manas said. Constable Sandeep Tewatia was shifted to the district lines pending inquiry after Manas informed senior police officers about the incident.
