Flying Eagles thump Ikare United

Abuja - Flying Eagles continued their build-up for the 2015 African Youth Championship qualifier in May against Tanzania with an 8-0 thumping of gritty Ikare United of Ondo State on Wednesday in Abuja.
Musa Yahaya and Taiwo Awoniyi produced a brace each with further goals by Alhassan Ibrahim aka Muazam, Sulaiman Abdullahi, Abubakar Lawal and Wasiu Jimoh.
The Flying Eagles started on a good note and missed two early chances before Kelechi Iheanacho was fouled inside the box for a penalty in the ninth minute, which Mua-zam failed to convert as the Ikare goalkeeper did well to save it.
Iheanacho was again thwarted by the Ikare goalkeeper two minutes later when he came face-to-face with him.
Mu-azam finally broke the deadlock on 13 minutes when he rifled home a low shot from outside the box to make up for his miss from the penalty spot.
Musa Yahaya then saw his shot from outside miss target narrowly in the 24th minute as the Flying Eagles boxed their spirited opponents in their own half of the pitch.
Big striker Sulaiman Abdullahi doubled the lead for the Nigeria U20s in the 26th minute with a low shot, before Musa Yahaya tucked home a third goal four minutes later when he went clear of the goalkeeper.
In the 39th minute, Iheanacho tried an audacious effort from the center circle, which missed, before Yahaya completed his brace on 42 minutes.
Substitute Awoniyi made it 5-0 in the 49th minute after he was set up by Iheanacho and three minutes later he celebrated his second goal after an attack initiated by Wilfred Ndidi.
Ikare United had a chance to get on the scoreboard in the 56th minute, when they were awarded a penalty for a foul by the Flying Eagles inside the vital area, but they blasted it wide off target.
They again came close on 80 minutes when a free kick crashed against the Flying Eagles post.
Two late goals by Abubakar Lawal and Wasiu Jimoh then completed the thrashing.

a 33-year-old Chinese woman, Hu Chen, has been arrested in the city of Cixi in east China’s Zhejiang province for throwing her baby girl and her older brother under a moving lorry.
According to reports posted by Dailymail, the 14-month old girl was crushed by the lorry but her brother was rescued by a passer-by.
Though the six-year-old  was said to escape with cuts and a broken arm.

Husband 'battered his wife to death with a dumbbell after private investigators uncovered her affair by fitting tracking device to her car' Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2617043/Husband-battered-wife-death-dumbbell-private-investigators-uncovered-affair-fitting-tracking-device-car.

A husband beat his wife to death with a dumbbell after private investigators discovered her affair, a court has heard today.
Nirmal Gill, 49, allegedly murdered his wife Rosemary Gill, 48, in the bedroom of their home in St Werburghs, Bristol, at around 3am on July 20 last year.
'Possessive' Gill had hired a team of private investigators after he became suspicious that his wife may have been having an affair, Bristol Crown Court heard.
The investigators fitted a tracking device to Mrs Gill's car, informing her husband of her whereabouts.
He also followed her, using his own and borrowed cars, discovering after spying on her that she was having an affair with her ex-husband Andrew Cooper, after spotting them embracing, it was said.
Three days later Gill is accused of carrying out a 'revenge attack' on his wife, allegedly using a dumbell to batter her 12 times around the head.
Her naked and bloodied body was discovered eight hours later by the couple’s daughter, Jasmine, 19, who had been sleeping in the room next door.
Prosecutor Michael Fitton QC told the jury Gill admits the manslaughter of his wife, a mother-of-two, through a loss of control but denies murdering her.
Mr Fitton told the jury: 'He didn’t lose control of himself when he beat her to death, he knew what he was doing,
'He was killing her in revenge for what he had discovered about her behaviour because she had been unfaithful.
'He had known about it when he saw her with the man in Thornbury and in Gordano.
'He was killing her because he was a jealous man who was never going to forgive her, not just for the affair but for lying to him.
'She paid for her affair with her life.'
Mr Fitton said Mrs Gill had been married to Mr Cooper between 1982 and 1986, before marrying Gill in 1989.
'To the outside world the marriage appeared to have been happy enough, but those in the house were aware that in reality it was otherwise,' Mr Fitton said.
The marriage began to struggle in 2013 and the couple began sleeping separately, he said.
Mrs Gill met with Mr Cooper at the beginning of the year and they rekindled their friendship and later relationship, the court was told.
'She said Nirmal was a jealous and possessive man and she was keeping the relationship with Andrew a secret from Nirmal,' Mr Fitton said.
In June 2013, Mrs Gill asked her husband for a divorce and contacted a local solicitor to begin the legal process, he said.
Mr Fitton said the couple argued, with Mrs Gill calling police for help on four separate occasions between June 9 and 21.
'The defendant, who had clearly expressed his love for Rosemary many times and continued to do so, was deeply upset about the decline and breakdown of the marriage,” Mr Fitton said.
'He began following Rosemary when she went out in the evening.
'He arranged to have her watched.

'He arranged for a tracking device to be fitted to her car.
'He asked to have her phone tracked but the enquiry agency said they couldn’t do that.'
Mr Fitton said Gill contracted an enquiry agency on July 12 and paid money to have a tracking device fitted to her Audi.
The same day, Mrs Gill went to meet Mr Cooper at Cribbs Causeway in Bristol but noticed her husband following her car and cancelled the visit, the prosecutor said.
She arranged to meet Mr Cooper in Thornbury, where the couple spent time in his car.
'After Rosemary and Andrew had separated, he heard from Rosemary that the defendant had been watching them in the car park and had watched them embrace,' Mr Fitton said.
On July 19, Mrs Gill and Mr Cooper met at Gordano Services on the M5 at 1.30pm.
Gill allegedly used the agency to track his wife’s Audi and followed her in a borrowed car.
Later that day, Mrs Gill and Gill spoke about their relationship and agreed it was 'coming to an end', the jury heard.
Mrs Gill left to meet Mr Cooper at a pub at 7pm in Dursley, Gloucestershire, where she told him Gill had agreed to leave home, it is said.
At 7.30pm, Gill sent his wife a text message reading: 'I am leaving Saturday but I have two stipulations.

'I would like to spend one last night in bed with you and make love with you.
'That’s all I wish for. Have a nice evening xxx.'
Mrs Gill returned home at around 10pm, texting Mr Cooper that Gill was asleep.
At 3am, neighbours heard banging noises at the three-bedroomed property.
Jasmine discovered her mother’s body at around midday, with her father sat naked on the side of the bed.
She told him to leave the property and he dressed, returning at 9pm to be arrested by police, the court heard.
Forensic investigations found Mrs Gill had been clothed during the fatal attack, with her underwear ripped off her body post-mortem, Mr Fitton said.
In interview, Gill initially told police he had flown into a rage after his wife called him a 'sad, pathetic man'.
He later told officers he had taken a 'cocktail of drink and drugs' and could not remember attacking his wife, Mr Fitton said.
In a separate account, he said Gill claimed he had tried to have sex with his wife 20 minutes after her death but was not successful.
His account is now that the couple both wanted sex but it did not work and Mrs Gill ridiculed him - with his mind blank after that moment, Mr Fitton said.

Bob Hoskins' daughter today paid an emotional tribute to him following his death last night, by revealing the 11 life lessons he taught her.
Rosa Hoskins, 30, said she loved her ‘darling’ 71-year-old actor father ‘to the ends of the earth and he loved me back just the same’.
The writer and actress then listed the ‘advice that he tailor made just for me’, saying that he spoke ‘so often to encourage, comfort and reassure’.
They were: ‘laugh’; ‘be yourself’; ‘be flamboyant’; ‘don't worry about other people's opinions’; ‘get angry’; ‘whatever you do, always give it a good go'; ‘be generous and kind because you can't take it with you’; ‘appreciate beauty, take pictures and make memories’; ‘don't take yourself too seriously'; 'never, ever, ever, ever give up’; and ‘love with all your heart’.
On her website Haute Hoskins, she also says: ‘Bob has always been supportive of all Rosa’s work projects, although sometimes a little bemused by her tendency to overdress.
‘When Rosa lived at home with her parents, Bob’s usual response to her fashion choices were “Got your acceptance speech ready love?”’
Miss Hoskins, of Muswell Hill, north London, who stood 3in taller than her 5ft 6in father, is a writer  and has acted in TV dramas including Holby City and Midsomer Murders.
Her father’s death following pneumonia comes two years after the much-loved actor announced he was retiring from showbusiness after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease.
From humble a humble start to his TV acting career - in an educational series called On the Move in 1976 - Bob Hoskins's silver screen career eventually spanned four decades and included Hollywood hits such as Who Framed Roger Rabbit.

ROSA HOSKINS: 11 LESSONS FROM MY DAD

My darling Dad has died. I loved him to the ends of the earth and he loved me back just the same. These are the lessons he taught me, I will keep them close to my heart and remind myself of them whenever I stumble or falter. They are his words; the words spoke so often to encourage, comfort and reassure. This isn’t general wisdom, rather advice that he tailor made just for me. I love you Dad.

1) Laugh. There’s humour to be found everywhere, even your darkest days there’s something to have a joke about. Laugh long and loud and make other people laugh. It’s good for you.
2) Be yourself. If someone doesn’t like you they’re either stupid , blind, or they’ve got bad taste. Accept who you are, you’ve got no one else to be. Don’t try to change yourself, there’s no point. Don’t apologise. Don’t make excuses. Be yourself and if anyone else doesn’t like it they can f*ck off.
3) Be flamboyant, it’s who you are and always have been. Be eccentric and unique. Don’t try to adapt yourself to someone else’s view of normal. That belongs to them, not you. Like yourself as who you are.
4) Don’t worry about other people’s opinions. Everyone’s a critic, but ultimately what they say only matters if you let it. Don’t believe your own press. People can just as easily sing your praises as they can tear you down. Don’t waste your time on things you can’t change. Let it slide off you like water off a duck’s back.
5) Get angry, it’s ok to lose your temper now and then. If anger stays in, it turns to poison and makes you bitter and sad. Get angry, say your peace, then let it go.
6) Whatever you do, always give it a good go. Don’t be afraid of failure and disappointment. If you fall flat on your face then get straight back up. You’ll always regret not trying. Disappointment is temporary, regret is forever.
7) Be generous and kind because you can’t take it with you. When you’ve got something to give, give it without hesitation.
8) Appreciate beauty, take pictures and make memories. Capture it, you never know when it’ll be gone.
9) Don’t take yourself too seriously. People who take themselves too seriously are boring.
10) Never, ever, ever, ever give up. Keep on punching no matter what your up against. You’re only defeated if you give up, so don’t give up.
11) Love with all your heart. In the end, love is the only thing that matters.
His most recent appearance was in Snow White and the Huntsman, released in 2012 and starring Kristen Stewart. He had four children - Alex, Sarah, Rosa and Jack.
Along with his wife Linda, they said in a statement: 'We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Bob. Bob died peacefully at hospital last night surrounded by family, following a bout of pneumonia.'
The family also thanked well-wishers for their 'messages of love and support'. In 2012, Hoskins revealed his battle with the brain disorder several months after his diagnosis.

Dame Helen Mirren was among those paying her respects to the man she starred alongside in The Long Good Friday and Last Orders.
She said: ‘Bob was a great actor and an even greater man. Funny, loyal, instinctive, hard-working, with that inimitable energy that seemed like a spectacular firework rocket just as it takes off.

PARKINSON'S: TREMORS, MUSCLE STIFFNESS AND MOVEMENT ISSUES

Parkinson's disease is a condition in which part of the brain becomes progressively more and more damaged over many years.
It causes involuntary shaking and tremors, muscle stiffness and a slowing down of physical movements. It can also result in depression, daytime sleepiness and swallowing difficulties.
Parkinson's disease is caused by a loss of nerve cells in part of the brain. This leads to a reduction in the amount of a chemical called dopamine in the brain. This plays a vital role in regulating the movement of the body.
Actor Michael J Fox, 52, is one of the most well-known sufferers of the disease, which he has battled for more than 20 years.
Another high-profile sufferer is 72-year-old former boxer Muhammad Ali, who was diagnosed at the age of 42 in 1984.
’I watched his brilliant Bosola in The Duchess Of Malfi, and then had the greatest of pleasures in playing again opposite him in the film Last Orders. Playing again with him was like playing a duet with a brother I had grown up with, which professionally I had.
‘I personally will miss him very much, London will miss one of her best and most loving sons, and Britain will miss a man to be proud of.’
Culture Minister Ed Vaizey paid tribute today, saying: 'For decades, Bob Hoskins has entertained television and film audiences of all age groups around the world. The British film industry has lost one of its true greats, and my thoughts and sympathies go out to his family and friends.'
Actor Stephen Fry said on Twitter today: 'Oh no, Bob Hoskins. Gone? That’s awful news. The Long Good Friday [is] one of the best British movies of the modern era. A marvellous man.'
And actor Martin Kemp ‏added: 'RIP Bob Hoskins - Long Good Friday [is] one of the best movies ever made. You will be missed.'
Hoskins began his film career in the 1970s and found fame playing Harold Shand in the iconic 1980 gangster film The Long Good Friday alongside Mirren.

An Oscar nomination for best actor and further critical acclaim followed his lead role in another British film, Mona Lisa, in 1986.

In the 1980s and 1990s he was also famous for his adverts for BT, and his ‘It’s good to talk’ catchphrase became well-known.
He lived in East Sussex with second wife Linda for more than a decade. Asked in May 2012 if acting was still a passion, Hoskins replied: ‘Acting is a lark but I’m trying to work less.
'They say: "Bob I know you’re trying to retire but we’ve got a little swan song here which is the business..." and I get talked into it. The more you don’t want to work, the more work you get.
'I want to be at home with the wife but she doesn’t want me to retire, she wants me out of the house.'

'A MARVELLOUS MAN': TRIBUTES TO HOSKINS POUR IN ON TWITTER

Tributes have poured in for Hoskins, with many taking to Twitter to express their disbelief at his death.
Actor and comedian Stephen Fry tweeted: ‘Oh no, Bob Hoskins. Gone? That's awful news. The Long Good Friday one of the best British movies of the modern era. A marvellous man.’
Hollywood actor James Woods, who starred with Hoskins in the 1995 drama Nixon, mourned his death by celebrating the Briton's acting talents. He tweeted: ‘Oh man, what a terrible loss. A great guy and a superb artist.’
Fellow Tinstletown legend Samuel L Jackson spoke of his sadness at the news, saying: ‘Truly saddened by the passing of Bob Hoskins! A truly Gigantic talent & a Gentleman. R.I.P.’
The League of Gentlemen actor Mark Gatiss, who starred in a production of The Wind In The Willows with Hoskins for the BBC, posted a photograph of the pair from the show.
He tweeted: ‘So sad to hear we've lost the great Bob Hoskins. A true gent & an inspiration. Happy memories of 'the Willows' in '06’.
Actor Nick Frost shared the silver screen with Hoskins when they appeared together as Nion and Muir, two of the seven dwarves in the 2012 film Snow White And The Huntsman.
Frost tweeted: ‘Terribly sad news about Bob Hoskins. A pleasure to have shared the screen with you mate. An Actors actor and a gentleman to boot. RIP.
‘If you want to see Bob in full flow watch The Long Good Friday. A tour de force. The long shot at the end of Bob in the taxi is amazing.’
Theatre director and choreographer Matthew Bourne added simply: ‘RIP Bob Hoskins’.
Actor and Spandau Ballet musician Martin Kemp said: ‘RIP Bob Hoskins, 'Long Good Friday' one of the best movies ever made! You will be missed!’, while EastEnders star Shane Richie said: ‘Goodbye to a giant of British cinema RIP bob Hoskins x’.
His fellow soap star Danny Dyer said: ‘RIP Bob Hoskins.....gone but never ever forgotten. :(‘
The Da Vinci Code and Spider-Man 2 actor Alfred Molina tweeted: ‘RIP Bob Hoskins. One of the great ones. True gentleman, gifted actor, you will be terribly missed’, while comedian Omid Djalili wrote: ‘RIP Bob Hoskins. Worked with him twice. Always a laugh’.

Shadow culture secretary Harriet Harman said: ‘Sad to hear that Bob Hoskins has died - great actor’, while sports presenter Gabby Logan tweeted: ‘If there was ever a man who personified Avuncular on screen and apparently in life it was Bob Hoskins. As in reassuring and trustworthy.’
Irish Game Of Thrones actor Liam Cunningham, who starred with Hoskins in Jimmy McGovern drama The Street, tweeted of how he enjoyed filming with the diminutive actor.
He tweeted: ‘I filmed "The Street" with Bob Hoskins in 2010. Had copious amounts of wine with the man. It was a joy to work with him. RIP’.
Pop star Boy George wrote: ‘R.I.P Bob Hoskins’, while Jermain Jackman, winner of this year's talent show The Voice, said: ‘Rest In Peace Bob Hoskins! Who framed Rodger Rabbit is one of my favourite films! You will be missed!’
Former British children's laureate Michael Rosen tweeted: ‘Loved Bob Hoskins. First saw him in Ken Campbell's Roadshow in about 1970. Perf'd brilliantly my story “The Bakerloo Flea” on TV.’
He is also known to have worked as a porter, lorry driver and window cleaner and attempted a three-year accounting course but dropped out, before he discovered acting.
But a passion for language and literature inspired by his former English teacher, saw the teenager dream of a career path that would lead him on to the stage.
Hoskins stumbled into acting at the age of 26 when he accompanied a friend to watch a series of auditions at the Unity Theatre in 1969, only to be confused for one of the actors taking part.
A script was pushed into his hands and Hoskins ended up being given the role.
On getting his first role, Hoskins, said: 'I was three parts pissed. We were going to a party. And this bloke comes around and says: "Right. You're next. Have you seen the script?"...And I got the leading part.'
He spent several seasons with the Royal National Theatre and the Old Vic Theatre in London, where his credits included everything from a range of Shakespeare to Chechov to Shaw.
After some success on the stage, he moved to television securing roles in the series Villains (1972) and Thick As Thieves (1974).
He launched his film career in the mid-70s.
His first role was a stand-out performance alongside Richard Dreyfuss in John Byrum's Inserts (1974), followed by a smaller part in Richard Lester's Royal Flash (1975).
His big break came when in 1978 he stared in Dennis Potter's mini TV series, Pennies From Heaven, playing the role of Arthur Parker a doomed salesman.
That performance secured Hoskins a string of film offers.
His debut in a major blockbuster came in 1980 when he secured the role of Harold Shand in gangster film The Long Good Friday, alongside actress Helen Mirren.
An Oscar nomination for best actor and further critical acclaim, including a BAFTA award, followed his lead role in another British film, Mona Lisa, in 1986.
He went on to play Eddie Valiant in Who Framed Roger Rabbit in 1988, and Smee in both Hook (1991) and Neverland (2011), and Nikita Khrushchev in Enemy At The Gates (2001).
His instantly-recognisable London accent did not stop him taking a role as FBI boss J Edgar Hoover in the 1995 film Nixon.
Despite big-budget hits, he was more than happy to appear in low-budget movies such as the Shane Meadows-directed A Room For Romeo Brass.
The star - married to his second wife Linda for 30 years - also moved into directing with The Raggedy Rawney and Rainbow.
Despite his flourishing big-screen career, Hoskins took a role in Jimmy McGovern's BBC1 series The Street in 2009, winning an international Emmy.
He was famously on standby to play Al Capone in Brian De Palma's The Untouchables, until Robert De Niro agreed to take the role.
The director went on to send him a cheque for £20,000.
Hoskins said: 'I phoned him up and I said "Brian, if you've ever got any films you don't want me in, son, you just give me a call".'
In the 1980s and 1990s Hoskins also became known for his adverts for BT, and his ‘It’s good to talk’ catchphrase became well-known.
Hoskins announced his retirement after being diagnosed with Parkinson's in the Autumn of 2011 and his last film, Snow White And The Huntsman was released in 2012.
Speaking about the acting profession, Hoskins said: 'I came into this business uneducated, dyslexic, 5ft 6in, cubic, with a face like a squashed cabbage and they welcomed me with open arms.'
In 1988, he said the profession had become one of the great joys of his life.
He said: 'My life has taken off - my life, my career - everything. I can honestly say I've never been happier. I'm walking around thinking any minute now, 25 tons of horse-s*** is going is going to fall on my head.'

Barcelona will appoint a former player as new boss with Luis Enrique and Ernesto Valverde in the frame

Barcelona will go back to their roots on July 1 when they name a former player as their new coach for next season. What remains to be seen is which player.
Athletic Bilbao coach Ernesto Valverde is the first choice of Barça sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta but he still has a year left on his contract and, having steered the team almost certainly into the Champions League, it will be difficult to prise him away.

Luis Enrique has emerged as a serious alternative having guided Celta Vigo to safety in his first season at the club. Seven points from the last nine has left the Galician side 10th in the table.
Frank de Boer, Ronaldo Koeman and current Barça B team coach Eusebio Sacristán are outside bets with the latter having guided Barça B to second in the second tier despite losing a host of talented players – including Gerard Deloufeu – at the start of the season.
One thing is certain, having agreed the Tata Martino experiment has largely failed, the club are determined to go back to the same in-house hiring that brought them so much success with Pep Guardiola and Tito Vilanova.

Woman Pc sacked for misconduct over Plebgate row leaks and giving 'misleading' statements to investigators Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2616886/Woman-Pc-sacked-misconduct-Plebgate-row-leaks-giving-misleading-statements-investigators

  • Ms Weatherley passed it on to an officer who leaked content to Sun
A police constable has been sacked over leaks to the press linked to the Plebgate row, Scotland Yard said.
Gillian Weatherley was on duty in Downing Street on the day of the confrontation between then-chief whip Andrew Mitchell and fellow constable Toby Rowland in September 2012.
The next day, Weatherley sent a photograph of an email that Rowland had sent to his bosses about the row to another officer, James Glanville - who was later sacked for leaking the information to the Sun newspaper.

During the initial incident, Mr Mitchell lost his temper after being told he could not ride his bicycle through the main gates.
He became embroiled in a heated confrontation with another police officer, Toby Rowland, and admits swearing but denies calling officers ‘plebs’.

As well as sending the photograph to Glanville, Scotland Yard said Weatherley went on to exchange 12 text messages with him in the days following the confrontation, all of which she later deleted.
The force said she had given 'inaccurate and misleading' statements to officers investigating the aftermath of the row, and had been suspended from duty since her arrest in February last year.

Prosecutors have already decided not to press charges.
Weatherley was found to have breached standards of professional behaviour in relation to honesty and integrity; orders and instructions; confidentiality; discreditable conduct and challenging and reporting improper conduct in a three-day misconduct hearing.
She was found guilty of gross misconduct after the hearing before a panel which included an independent representative, a Superintendent and Commander Julian Bennett.

Another two officers, also from the diplomatic protection group, are due to face gross misconduct proceedings in the coming weeks.
The next hearing will begin tomorrow, for another Pc accused of denying he had been in contact with Keith Wallis, a fellow officer who was jailed and sacked for sending his MP an email in which he pretended to have witnessed the Downing Street confrontation.
A third constable will face her gross misconduct hearing on May 20, where she will be accused of giving false statements to the police investigation into Plebgate.
It is claimed she knew about Wallis’s email and her partner leaked information to the Sun.
The hearings are taking place in private as dictated by statute, but Mr Mitchell was invited to attend and Scotland Yard said it would publicise details of the decisions made.
The only misconduct hearing the force has previously held in public is that of Pc Simon Harwood, who was sacked after the death of newspaper seller Ian Tomlinson, when it was ordered to do so by police watchdog the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
Mr Mitchell said: 'Disciplinary hearings in the Metropolitan Police are held in private and therefore I am limited in what I can say - at this stage.
'What I can say today is that I felt the hearing was well-conducted.
'This gross misconduct hearing was in respect of police officer Gillian Weatherley, who first obstructed my exit from Downing Street on September 19 2012 in breach of clear instructions from the head of Downing Street security.
'I hope the transcript of the inquiry and its supporting evidence will be published in full in the interests of openness and accountability.
'This case has serious consequences for the Government, the police and every citizen in this country.'

Boy suspect's mother 'was on holiday in Gran Canaria': Further details emerge about teenager accused of stabbing teacher

  • Mother of Ann Maguire murder suspect 'heard news while on holiday'
  • Yesterday, it is understood she was going back to Leeds
  • The loner enjoyed violent video games and heavy metal bands
  • Boy lived with his mother after she divorced his father, it was said
  • He has since 'found a new partner with whom he has a young child'

The mother of the teenage boy suspected of stabbing Ann Maguire to death had gone on holiday shortly before the tragedy, friends and  neighbours said yesterday.
She was in Gran Canaria when she heard the shocking news that her son was alleged to have killed his teacher, they said, and was yesterday making her way home to Leeds.
Further detail emerged yesterday of the boy's interest in violent video games and heavy metal bands.

The loner, who has a Grim Reaper image on his Facebook page, lived with his mother after she divorced his father, who has since found a new partner with whom he has a young child.
Neighbours and friends said his mother, a 47-year-old human resources manager, 'was away on holiday when all of this happened' and now faced 'every parent's worst nightmare'.
Pupils said the boy had become increasingly withdrawn in recent months. While he was in the top set in most subjects and was particularly talented at art, he had few friends at the school.

He allegedly said he wanted to kill himself because of bullying and had boasted of experimenting with drugs. He also left clues about his desperate state of mind on his Facebook page.
The boy posted two prominent pictures on his profile – one of the Grim Reaper and another blurry shot of himself in a T-shirt with the branding of Achievement Hunter, a YouTube channel that features a group of six men devoted to violent video games such as Call of Duty, Halo and Grand Theft Auto.

He had a keen interest in 'ultra-violent' video games and weeks before the murder posted a video promoting Dark Souls II, a game in which a 'cursed' character travels through dungeons killing zombies.

Dark Souls II, which was released last month and can be played with others around the world, has a 16+ rating because of its 'realistic-looking violence'.
West Yorkshire Police yesterday said it was 'aware' of his online presence and it is 'forming part of their investigation'.
Classmates said the boy had started  to go into school with beer or whisky in recent months.
Chloe Ripley, 16, said: 'He was weird and lonely.'
The uncle of a friend said Mrs Maguire had generously paid for the boy's food when he was short of money for lunch, but had also disciplined him over using his mobile phone.
He said: 'Mrs Maguire used to give him dinner money when his dad left them with nothing.'

A former pupil at the school, who knew the boy's 19-year-old brother, said: 'His mum was away on holiday and his brother was taking care of the house.
'That is why they haven't been able to question him yet because they are waiting for her to fly back.'
Friends of the boy's parents described him as a 'lovely, charming' child and said they were shocked at the supposed change in his character.
His father, a council executive and practising Catholic who recently celebrated his 50th birthday, lives in a smart row  of £350,000 terraces in a village just  outside Leeds with his partner and their young child.

The boy visited often but lived with his mother and musician older brother, who plays in a local rock band, in a £115,000 house at the end of a cul-de-sac near  Corpus Christi School.
Friends of his mother insisted that she was a good parent.
Gudrun Wroot, who worked with her, said she juggled her job with being a single parent.
'It is awful for the family of the woman who has been killed, but it is also traumatic for the family of the boy,' Mrs Wroot said.
'You can't imagine what she must be feeling. It is just terrible.
'But really she is a nice person and a very caring mother. She was extremely concerned that the boys were brought up well and for all I knew they were.'
Police had yet to start questioning the boy yesterday. A spokesman declined to comment on whether or not his mother was in the country.
A spokesman for Leeds City Council said that for legal reasons it could not comment on whether social services were involved with the family.

School threatens to take girls out of class for wearing trousers that are too TIGHT instead of 'baggy' pants designed for boys

Pupils at Comberton Village College near Cambridge taken aside by head
  • Peter Law said they'd be taught in isolation if they wore the wrong trousers
  • Year ten pupil Erica Parr, 15, of Cambridge, said: 'The whole thing is stupid'
  • Parents of children at the 1,369-pupil secondary school say it is 'petty'
  • But Mr Law says children need to adhere to the school's high standards

Schoolgirls have been told they will be taught in isolation if they persist in wearing tight trousers.
Around 100 female pupils at Comberton Village College in Cambridge were called in by the school head this week and told they will be taught separately if they don't wear baggier trousers.
Headmaster Peter Law claimed girls at the 1,369-pupil secondary school eight miles outside Cambridge were wearing the clothes as an 'act of defiance', and threatened them with isolation if they refused to change them.
But students and parents have hit back, accusing the school of being 'petty'.
Year ten pupil Erica Parr, 15, said she had worn the same style of trousers for three years without a complaint.
Miss Parr, who is from Cambridge, said: 'They want us to wear boys’ trousers. I got up and walked out and went back to my lesson.
'I told them the whole thing is stupid. We’re sat in this dining hall being asked questions about our trousers when we’ve got exams coming up.
'I think they have got their priorities all wrong.'
Her mother, Kate Bourne, accused the school of being 'naive' in hoping the girls will adopt the baggier trousers.
The mother-of-three said: 'Teenage girls are going to be teenage girls. They are starting to flex their wings and they are finding their independence.

'They don’t want to be labelled as a dork because girls are very self-conscious.
'I don’t think it’s gone as far as sending kids home but some were sent in isolation.  If you want a strict uniform policy then bring one in, but I think this is all just a bit petty.'
In a letter to parents, Peter Law said the school would continue to apply the uniform policy, but if students refuse to adhere to it, they would not attend 'normal lessons'.
Today he said the school had brought in dozens of spare trousers to hand out to offending pupils.

Mr Law said: 'Any school will tell you that over time pupils will, in small ways, challenge rules, and it is the job of the school to keep up high standards.
'Fashions come and go, and in recent times students have moved towards wearing particularly tight trousers.
'It is an ongoing thing and every school across the country will have this conversation with pupils.
'I would never send a student home, we want to avoid that. I think it would be very unsuitable for this situation.

'[But] If they continue to refuse, that is more about defiance and they may well be taken out of classes and given work to do alone.
'We have brought along a large stock of girls trousers which we will hand out to students.'
The uniform policy for trousers, which recommends a supplier, states: 'These should be plain black, full length and of a traditional school uniform style.
'They should have no studs, patch pockets, decoration or distinctive belt. Jeans, jean-style trousers and leggings are not allowed.'
Two years ago Mandy Entwistle was angry with Swavesey Village College, also in Cambridgeshire, after staff sent her 15-year-old daughter home for wearing trousers deemed too tight around her ankles.

Ready to blow: Fears that sixty tonne blue whale carcass washed up on beach of tiny Newfoundland village could EXPLODE at any moment

  • Carcass is rotting along the shoreline of a town on Canada's east coast
  • Methane gas caused by decomposition could cause the animal to burst
  • Emitting powerful stench that is spreading through the town of 600 people
  • 60-tonne carcass could be carrying bacteria that can make people sick
The carcass of a blue whale is rotting along the shoreline of a town on Canada's east coast, triggering concerns from the community it could burst.
Emily Butler, the town clerk in Trout River, Newfoundland said the 28 yard blue whale is beached next to a community boardwalk and is emitting a powerful stench that is spreading through the town of 600 people.
She said she and others in town are concerned that the methane gas caused by decomposition could cause the animal to burst.

'We have a concern ...because I'm not sure with the heat and gases that are trapped inside of this mammal if at some point in time it will explode,' she said.

But Jack Lawson, a research scientist with Canada's fisheries department, said the risk of such a blast is 'very small'.
He said: 'At some point, the skin of the animal will lose some of its integrity as all of the connective tissue starts to break down.

HOW GAS BUILDS IN DEAD ANIMALS

When an animal dies, bacteria inside the carcass produce methane as part of the decomposition process.
If this is not let out of the body gradually it builds up, exploding at the first opportunity.
Whales are the most extreme because their huge size makes the consequences of a gas build-up so much greater.
Living toads in Hamburg, Germany, started spontaneously combusting in 2005.
It was thought crows were picking out their livers, leaving a hole, so when the toads puffed themselves up as a defence mechanism, their whole bodies burst.
'Eventually, that gas will seep out....It will just deflate like an old balloon.'
Still, Mr Lawson said people should stay away from the 60-tonne carcass, which could be carrying viruses or bacteria that can make people sick.
'The risk will come from somebody with a sharp blade who decides they want to cut a hole in the side to see what happens, or if someone is foolish enough to walk on it,' he said.
He said he is aware of YouTube videos showing a bloated, beached sperm whale in the Faroe Islands that suddenly explodes as a scientist uses a large knife to cut open its underside.
'With this animal (in Newfoundland), it's highly unlikely that it's going to happen, especially spontaneously,' he said.
The scientist said large, beached whales can either be buried with heavy equipment or cut up and shipped to a landfill.

Ms Butler asked for help from the province's environment and government services departments as well as the federal fisheries department to remove the carcass.
She said the town council considered asking fishermen to tow the mammal out to sea but concluded such a task would need to be supervised by someone with expertise.
'Nobody has been properly trained in the removal of whale carcasses of this size,' she said.
The whale is one of three beached along Newfoundland's west coast.
