This is one of life's great mysteries. Why do beautiful celebrities have ugly dogs?

DOGS.

Dogs are great. Who doesn't love dogs? Even cat-lovers love dogs whereas the reverse is rarely true.
But some dogs are plain ugly. And while it's often been said that dogs resemble their owners (or the other way round), it's a bizarre fact of modern life that beautiful people tend to have extremely ugly dogs. So there goes that theory.
Here's Exhibit A. It's Swedish model Elsa Hosk, who probably picked up this mutt by mistake when she was shopping for a shaggy rug at IKEA.

And here's our next contestant. This is Brazilian model Izabel Goulart, who has wisely decided to employ her horrible little yappy friend as a squeegie.

Occasionally, you find a gorgeous celebrity whose dog is not necessarily ugly by birth. But then they go and dress it up in human gear and make it look really stupid. Here's British model and socialite Poppy Delvingne's pooch.

American reality TV star and model Kendall Jenner has a contented-looking canine, a scenario which would soon change if the dog ever looked in the mirror.

Here's Australian model and aspiring singer Cheyenne Tozzi with a hideous furry beast which looks like a reject from The Muppet Show.

Now, it's at about this point in stories like this that a conclusion is usually drawn. Why, oh why, do celebrities have ugly dogs? Is it a lack of taste? Random chance? Or is it perhaps because it makes them look yet more beautiful by comparison?
Sadly, we don't know. But one thing we can say for sure is that American actress and 'Girls' star Lena Dunham should extend her dog's neck covering a little so you can't see the hideous creature's face. Ugh.
